" If achieving a certain finishing time in your next marathon becomes the only thing about your running that matters to you, then you may not enjoy the process of training for that marathon. Sure, achieving a goal can be rewarding, but it's the journey - not reaching the destination - that brings true fulfillment"

Ive just finished reading all of his books. At the the end of the 50/50 he was at his hotel, his family had gone home to resume normal life and he decided to run home from NY...he lives in California! I believe he made it about 1600 miles with odd packs of people that had joined him for various distances along the way. He kind of had a Forrest Gump moment, stopped and turned to the people that were with him and he said I just want to go home because he missed his family. So he did! One message that you can reall take from all of his adventures is to enjoy it! Dont take it so seriously that it consumes you and leaves you with nothing else.
